Has anyone had this happen before. My gammatronix charging led turned red a few weeks ago. I stopped and checked all the connections, all okay and it was still red. I have had it for 6 months now and it has been fine. I had fitted a new battery a few days prior and I wondered if that had anything to do with it. I was between York and Hull heading for the ferry when it happened and had been riding through a downpour for a short time. I drove for another 20 miles with it still showing red but the bike seemed fine. What to do, get the bike checked out properly and miss the ferry or get on the ferry with a bike that had a potential alternator problem. I managed to locate a multimeter in Hull and everything checked out fine. With half an hour to spare I boarded the ferry with the led still glowing red. next day in Zeebrugge it turned green and stayed that way for the rest of my trip of 3000 miles. Any ideas, I got home yesterday and plan to give the bike a good service and any hints or tips to prevent this happening again would be welcome

Yep I've had exactly the same thing. I think that the unit is susceptible to moisture as I was also in a downpour when this happened and took all my gear off to get at my multimeter only to find a nice healthy 14 + volts at the battery.
I just switched my unit off and carried on. When they 'dry' out they as normal. Whether or not its a good idea to sealk the back of them I'm not sure, I'm just gonna live with mine as I know it's foibles. The unit is after all just an indicator which does it's job.

Thanks Steve, that cheers me up no end. Same here 14v reading when bike was running. now I know about the possible damp issues I will take a multimeter with me in future.
