Question XT660X and large topbox

Hello. I'm need to the forum and have fallen in love with the XT660X

I'm considering changing my XJ 600 N out with a XT660X or XT660R

Normally I only use my bike for general transporting, when the wife needs our car. But once a year me and my buddy go on a larger trip. Last year 5000 km around Europe. Mainly around 80-100 km/hr - But ofcause also some highway kilometers. Take a lot a my website kher.dk

On my XJ I got a Kappa KGR 52 L (Like Givi Trekker 52). I would like to use this on my next bike also.

So now to my question: How do the XT660X preform with a large topbox on the back? Does it make the front end wobble?

In the posts I have read people are quite pleased with the bike - Also for long distance riding. Which I will be doing once or twice a year

Ideally I want a XT660Z - But not many of these models are sold i Denmark, and the listing price a quite high. Therefore I'm looking a used XT660X and putting a windscreen on it :-)

Thanks for your answers in advance

You could take yer wife in that topbox hehehehe. Hiya and welcome. The XTX is a great bike and will handle your kind of journeys with no problem. I would be inclined to fit some panniers cos it takes the weight lower on the bike. I did some great trips with my XTX and I had a pair of aluminium Givi Trekkers on mine and yes a top bax but only for the waterproofs. Have fun!!!

Yea, it is quite big.... ;-) I'm not overpacking it - I'v chosen a large topbox because of I like to lock my helmet in it when parking.

My XJ have side cases. On the XT I would like to use a rollbag behind the topbox. But I will defiantly consider side cases also.

Thanks for your replay and points.

Actually rethinking my luggage setup... Maybe I could sell the large Kappa. Keep my Givi E21 side cases and use a roll back on top of these. On my trips the topbox isn't used for anything else than a small backpack and a couple of water bottles.

Then I can't lock my helmet in then - But I a steel wire thru the helmet and down to the disc lock should keep the helmet safe. And it is still possible to lock wallet and stuff in the panniers.

Use to have an xtr with a 50ltr Givi box and as long as you don't put a lot of weight in the box handling fine, and even if you do just wind up the rear shock a bit and everything's ok
