Tail Tidy (another one)
This only works if you've taken the original exhaust box off.
Get a DRC Edge 2 Tail light from Dirtbike Bitz ( Link here ) This is what it came with as well as spacers, washers etc and bolts Take the bar with the four holes and mount it to the existing plate on the frame. Offer up the plastic unit and mark out where the two forward holes will go. Drill the holes, then offer up again and mark and drill the rearmost holes. Drop the bolts in from above (you need longer ones than supplied), add the supplied spacers and the supplied rubber washers stop everything dropping onto the floor! I've added some foam to the gap to stop mud building up, as well as closing the gap left by removing the exhaust with thin alloy sheet. Here's the results! The only problem is that the HUGE! UK number plate fouls the exhaust. Still to sort that one out, and remain legal ... I've also added a high level tail/brake light under the rack to try and get the numpties off my *rse at night. That came from Alchemy ( link here ) I think that's bright enough. Cheaper than some of the other 'orrible ones on the web and a lot tidier! Last edited by trangwales; 23-10-16 at 12:54. |

Looks very neat! Also the extra top light.
Also seems like you extended the tail down to add the red reflector? I have empathy for you regarding the strict law enforcement with the number plate. Here in S/Africa we get away with lots of "not legal" stuff due to a lack law enforcement (not that it's a good thing at all!) Consider the previous owner of my bike just cut off the long tail piece, mounted the number plate against the tail light, and then cut the plate to fit between the Scorpion pipes ! There isn't really any light on the number plate at night.

Thanks - yes I did originally and then found the reflector was pointing to the sky, So I've got one on the rack cross bar now. I've also managed to get a 6x8 numberplate (supposed to be 9x7) which looks better than the letterbox ones the crutch rocket riders get nicked for!!

I was thinking of also doing this, and then asked myself, why?
Or is it only me? I've never had a problem with the setup as is |

It's purely aesthetic. ...it's just a desire for a certain 'stance'... and very much in the eye of the beholder. And especially here in the UK with our hideous, gigantic number plates. I love modding my Ten. ...but...when I see a picture of it in 'untouched ' form I think. ..mmmmm, it was a great looking bike as it was!. But all that paraphernalia on the rear....had to go! Steve

Essentially, yes it is. However, it does make removing and replacing the rear wheel slightly easier as you can roll it straight in or out without having to go at an angle to negotiate the number plate etc.

Quote:
The main reason why we shorten the tail piece is because we've had a few indicators vibrate and break from bad off road touring.
