I'm looking for a tail tidy for my X as well. There are various tail mods with photos in the forums, just search for "tail tidy".
To buy, I only found the one from off-the-road.de but with that price I'm still looking at pics from members hoping to find something easy enough for me to do. Here's the link: http://www.off-the-road.de/en/XT-660...XT-660R-X.html |

Appreciate the response. I have searched the forum and found various threads and images of differing tidies.
Im not wanting to pay OTR prices either tbh and have found a few i like the look of but haven't seen these on an X or R. And they are universal so placement of indicators and proximity of the number plate and the exhausts etc are an unknown factors I'll post pictures of what I've found . |

I've seen those on eBay, they look good but I don't how straightforward the installation is. I assume some slight modification is needed. If you do manage to fit one though, it'd be great to have a few info about how you did it. ![]() |

I thought for 16.00 id try and fit the ebay special. 6 hours later.....
I basically cut the length of it down and then removed the sides with a dremel tool. The original angle of the number plate bracket was too acute so I scored the back of it and used a heat gun to apply a little heat and bent it to angle I wanted. I then sandwiched it between the original undergaurd and its mounting points. I then drilled four holes and attached with nuts and bolts. I was fortunate in that the aftermarket indicators are smaller and they fit perfectly with clearance between the exhaust cans. A smaller number plate is next BUT Im more than happy with the end result. 16.00 well spent!! Last edited by nikroc; 14-10-16 at 17:38. |
