Hey mate welcome.
A couple things to check apart from the usual of service history and the like is, play in the rear sprocket carrier, & make sure you get a red ignition key with the 2 normal black keys. The overspray on the rims doesn't sound right though. |

Welcome to the forum Mick.
Overspray sounds iffy to me? Could be nothing more sinister than that someone's tried to cover up tyre lever damage on the rims though? Basically just check all the usual stuff that you would investigate on any used bike. Particular weak spots on the XTs are: All the bearings (headrace, swingarm pivot/linkage, wheels and sprocket carrier) which are poorly greased from the factory. Duff suspension - not the greatest when new and the shock fades away noticeably after 10K miles. Can you set a reasonable 1/3 of travel dynamic/rider sag when sitting on the bike? Gear selection and clutch operation - make sure it's all smooth up and down, hot and cold. Wiring/electrical gremlins and butchered wiring (especially if there's any evidence of a lot of aftermarket electrical accessories having been fitted). Make sure it charges within spec. Seized calipers - check the brake pads are evenly worn each side or each caliper. Check the wheels spin freely and the discs aren't getting excessively hot after a test ride. As Desert Racer says, three keys (two black/one red) is a must if buying from a dealer. |

First you need to get your photo(s) hosted elsewhere on the web using Photobucket for example. You can't post a photo directly from your device on the forum, you can only post an image link (URL). This is why you need to upload them to an image hosting site first.
Once you've got them hosted, just copy the URL or the hosted image and paste it into the dialogue box that opens when you click on the "insert image" button when composing your post/thread. |

I have edited your post above so as the image link works. I have left what you inserted before so if you click on "edit" post you'll be able to see the one that works and the one that doesn't and you'll be able to see why.
Basically you've copied far too much into the IMG tags. When you're in Photobucket, just click on the "get links" button for the desired image and choose to copy the "direct link" - this is what the forum needs to see. It will always end in the .jpg file extension. |
