Question Gear for supermotard?

What do you guys wear when ridning on the street?

Right now I am riding in mx gear since I am only riding on forrest paths and dirt roads but I'm looking into getting some sane road gear soon...

I'm considering keeping the mx boots, buying leather pants and use the body armor with a hoodie/t-shirt. But I wonder if the body armor really will stand some asphalt sliding if it comes to that...

Hi Wastegate,

Unless I'm just nipping to the shops, it's leathers, codura, or kevlar jeans. Always with a leather or waterproof codura bike jacket and never any skin showing.

MX boots should hold up well in a crash. But the body armour isn't really designed to stand up to abrasion. If its the type with the thin mesh material under the pads, this will fall apart pretty quickly if you're sliding down the road. MX gloves will likely suffer the same fate. Leather is the only way to go.

At the end of the day, it's what you feel comfortable in and this has a lot to do with the climate. If what you're wearing is too hot, cold or wet (if you live in the UK) that can be a major distraction.

Most importantly don't fall off!

Hey, thanks for the input. Yeah I felt the same way regarding the body armour. So I'm gonna look for something protective and cool on the torso that goes with the mx helmet

Smile gear for super motard

Hi I have the klim overland jacket and pants I was sick of getting soaked with my richi jacket so took the plunge and bought the overland it is around 350 each for the jacket and pants but has armour, the same fabric as the very expensive bad lands jacket and importantly for me lots of ventilation yet is guaranteed 100% waterproof. I cant fault it.

Depends on the weather.

fine / warm weather: racing leathers, boots, MX helmet with goggles and gloves or leather motorcycle jacket with cordura jeans, boots, MX helmet when going somewhere where I dont wanna walk around all day like a power ranger.

cold / wet weather: kushi tani all weather combi and full face hemet (Shoei) boots and either my normal or winter gloves.

I care very little for 'cool looks'. The stuff you wear needs to keep you in 1 piece, not win you a fashion competition...
