Best go faster mods

About two years ago, I expressed an interest in buying an XT660R. I didn't in the end. However, now I am having a shuffle around with my bikes meaning I want a supermoto as my second bike. I've considered a Husqvarna 701, but the nearest dealer to me in southwest Portugal is over 200 miles away. And, given that Husqvarna are now owned by KTM, and modern KTMs are, let's say, less than 100 per cent reliable, and even if they weren't, a KTM mechanic once told me that the their supermoto engines were only good for 50,000 miles, I'm coming to the conclusion that an XT660X would be the perfect choice. There's a dealer in Portimao, just down the road, and I like the 660.

Am I correct in thinking that it has a larger flywheel than a KTM690, therefore pulls better really lowdown the rev range?

To the point now, what are the best mods to do to the bike to boost torque and power, whilst not sacrificing any lowdown performance?

Your first 2 mods we recommend are the DNA stage 1 and Stage 2 filters.
However please note that when fitting a stage 2 you will then need a fuelling adjusting device such as the Kev Mod which is very affordable or a more expensive DynoJet Power Commander

Send a PM to Kev to ask him for a quote on the Kev Mod.

Thanks, Captain. Would a couple of aftermarket cans add anything apart from noise and a reduction in weight? I'm wondering whether Wings do pipes for XTs. Just as good as the Akros they're based on as the bloke whose business it is used to work for Akro.

Cans generally give a 2hp gain, but that's less to do with the cans and more to do with the fact the bike hasn't got to exhale through catalysts anymore.

As the Captain says, DNA stage 1 & 2, Kev's fuel mod and O2 controller are the best place to start. The good thing is you can do all this for way less than a set of cans and you'll get more than double the benefit in terms of hp.
