Headlight Replacement

Was there a model change in the headlight for XTR/X?
Iv'e been looking for a replacement for my XTX, some say 2004 on fitment, others 2004-2006 2007- Any help on whether something designated 2004 will fit my 2009:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TRI-O-M-H...8AAOSwuYVWoiUX

Any help appreciated : )

(Apologies for the wrong forum, should have been electrics/lighting, don't seem to be able to change this).

The ebay item you have linked to will fit all XTR models 2004 on, and XTX models from 2004-2006 only.

This ebay lamp will not fit a 2009 XTX (but will fit a 2009 XTR).

FYI - There are two types of headlamp...

(1) 5VK-H410A-12 (XT660R all years/XT660X 2004-2006)

(2) 10S-H410A-00 (XT660X 2007 onwards)

You have the pictures back to front here Pleiades. The 10S-H410A-00 is the top pic and the 5VK-H410A-12 is the bottom pic.

I think you'll find both pictures/part numbers are correct for early/late model XT660Xs. Refer to these links for confirmation...

Besides as you know I have the 2007 xtx and just had to buy a new headlight that's why I was looking at your post and scratching my head thinking what's going in here! Took me a minute to figure it out but as I said the text is correct but the pictures back to front. Just thought I would point it out to avoid confusing anyone.

They're not back to front though. They are categorically correct! Did you look at the links?

I think you'll find the confusion comes from the fact that your bike is actually of 2004-2006 vintage. I can see from one of your other posts (photo below) that your bike has a steel swingarm and deep radiator panels which signifies a pre 2007 model. Yours may well be carrying a 2007 registration, but that probably just means it was old (2006) stock first registered in 2007. It's extremely unlikely that it's a 2007 model that someone has retro-fitted a steel swingarm and earlier bodywork to!

A 2007 XTX (bodywork and swingarm) should look like this...

Where as a 2004-2006 XTX should look something like this...

Wow Pleiades your right, I'm an idiot lol! All this time I had no idea my bike was an 06 model registered in 07. It was sold as an 07, when I put my registration into any parts website it always comes up as an 07. And to confuse me even more this Italian ebayer who sold me my headlight actually listed it as an 07> model 10S-H410A-00

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2317206280...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

As it turns out I am very grateful to you for alerting me to this as I could well have ended up wasting time and money by ordering the wrong parts for my bike, like the headlight I just replaced. Sorry for the confusion!
