Front Sprocket Cover Mod

Something to help stop your chain lube from gunking up your side stand switch if you have an open sprocket cover, with some time on your hands while the bikes sitting up on a pile of logs waiting for its wheels to come back from the powder coaters, eh Steve?

I used a piece of aluminum angle that was 25mm X 20mm & about 115mm long, then cut the 20mm side down to 16mm to match the spacer supplied with the cover. Trimmed of some of the corners so it sits up to the engine , drilled a hole for the bolt. Fitted it all back together in about half an hour.
Side stand switch etc have been clean & gunk free since.

Geez tough crowd !! Just kidding. It's just the dust that sticks to it & looks like rust. Here is cleaned with a kerosene rag and re-lubed after a ride while the chains still warm. The lube soaks in better that way.

You gotta experience the Oz Red Interior to really understand it

I still find the stuff months after clinging to odd places ...

Ahh fair play it looks a lot like corrosion in the original pic. I've been thinking about getting one of those metal sprocket covers are they really superior to the plastic cover in every application? I use my X on roads exclusively, no offroading.

I mainly got one because I really liked the look of it, & to be able to check the state of the front sprocket without having to get the toolbox out.
