Cheap Puig Screen option?

Hi Everyone,

My first proper thread *please be gentle*
Just thought I'd do a quick review on the Flyscreen High (8cm higher)for the XT660Z so far. I've done about 100 miles with it on a mixture of roads.

I was after a clear or light smoke Puig Screen for my XTZ as I liked the extended OEM shape. After enquiring around and having an order cancelled and refunded by a shop who said they had a Puig but wasn't in stock and the back order wasn't until June from the factory, I decided to have a look around.

I did a brief Google search and came across this site from Germany called www.off-the-road.de . The site had its own XTZ section and in it I found this Flyscreen 8cm Higher

It wasn't a bad price at 74.90, cheaper than a Puig and the postage was 12.90. Totaling 87.80 (approx 68 all in).

It came with edging which I'm yet to put on.

Old and New

The only gripe so far is that the screw holes aren't set back like the original so the screen sits closer to the bike and GPS bar (I had to remove the TomTom ram mount for the time being).
After fitting the screen I got some spacers from work ( 18mm overall diameter x 5mm internal bore x 1.5mm thick) and placed 3 washers behind each screw. This has moved it off and away from the bike, though I'm yet to refit the Ram mount.

Turbulence.
I'd imagine it's the same as the Puig screen, i still get turbulence but only at the top of my helmet whereas before it was hitting my visor head on. Im around 6ft with an average torso height. I'll probably be after a spoiler at some point, maybe a Puig one, just get air flow over my head. A large amount is still coming up through the forks though and that will be my next step to rid the worst thing about the Ten.

I think if you're after a cheap Puig looking screen, this could be an option. They do a range of tints too.

P.s I haven't taken the bike out with the spaced out mounts and the edging. Not sure if this will make much difference, but I'll write an update when's it been done and tested.

Thanks

Good info....thanks for writing it up. Try clipping /taping a spare visor on your screen to experiment before buying an extension . , I tried various heights before cutting my screen down...everyone has a different solution for the buffeting!, Steve

Thanks, Good idea Steve. I'll have a little play around with that.

Having trouble finding a Hein Gericke bar bag. Seems everywhere is sold out

Thank for your post Simo, I was watching this screen from offtheroad, and after your review and your photos it's definitely on my wish list.
