Smile new xt660xs

hi, wonder id anyone can help, thinking of getting myself another 660x the thing is i had 1 before an 09 plate with a set of beawulf exhausts no other mods to the bike, but it was vertually unridable because of the surging at low speeds even at 30/35 in traffic holding a steady speed was almost impossible, nearly causing me to come off on a slow roundabout(slowenough where i didnt need to freewheel)but tight enough.anyway i am trying to find out if any of the new xt660x 2013 up apparently they are not making a 2016 because of lask of sales, So are still seffering from this problem i have read that upto 07 bikes were not affected but i have been told that many things even by dealers that they are ok, and help would be helpfull

2007/2008 bikes were reputed to be the worst for surging (apart from the very early models which needed replacement ECUs/TPS). Current models don't seem to produce too many complaints from owners and if they do surge are easily fixed.

Are you sure your "2009" XT was actually built in 2009? It may well have been built in 2008, and just registered in 2009 on the documents. It is fairly common for bikes (particularly ones that sell in low volumes like the XT) to be one (or even two) model years older than they actually show on their registration papers.

Read this thread re ECUs and surging. It covers most of your questions.

Mine is an 07 and it runs really well but theses bikes won't fix themselves you have to do it,and to be honest I have found the same with any fuel injected bike I've had in the last 16 years.
