Why I think the Touretech seat is more comfy

I love my XTZ, but for long distance that seat was just too uncomfortable (for me). For a long time I baulked at the price (even secondhand) and was very nervous in case it made no difference. Well so far it has! Hopefully these pictures will shed some light on this. Above is the Touretech seat (medium height) and below my stock seat. The top edges are more rounded, the back is more cutout so you sit a bit further back and the top is flatter. There is also a more gentle curve in the front. And most important is that it doesn't sag like the stock one. It is also wider giving more support (in all fairness it could even be wider still IMHO)

And from the top you can clearly see how much wider the perch is on the Touretech (top) seat compared to the Yamaha stock seat (bottom). Seat height is pretty much the same as before. I would still love to try the high one, which would give you more forward and backward moving options, but this one will do me fine thank you.

Don't know about the standard height TT seat, but I would not be without my high version. An expensive treat, but well worth it. Anything is an improvement on the stock seat though!

I got this one on eBay at just over 200 notes. I couldn't stretch much beyond (thanks for not bidding against me Steve) it. If I had the option I would have gone for the high too. Just gives you the option to move further back. Having said that, my luggage pretty much uses that back space.

I got the Touratech/Kahedo standard height seat too, a real good change after the OEM seat. Far more comfortable on long hauls and worth the big bucks. More convenient too, in comparison to the OEM seat combined with an Airhawk, which I used for several years.

Smile touratec seat

Hi jacq how many miles had you done on the standard seat? I have very recently aqquired a brand new 2010 tenere seat from an ex ten owner. He never used it but i am thinking of a tt seat or having the new one re upholstered. My bikes seat has done 10000 miles but at the moment it has sagged slightly and my arse has begun to pummel the hump into submission, but i will see how it goes.

If you have a standard seat spare I would suggest trying the seat concepts option of just replacing the cover and bolstering in whatever height you like. This is mine with a standard height, although the seat width, length and curves are anything but standard!

Hi Keith, my stock seat did about 9000 miles, but I used an aussie sheepskin with a stiff piece of leather underneath for most of it. No where near as comfortable as the TT. I almost bought the american cover seen above, and would have if I didn't get lucky on eBay. My trip this year to Luxembourg made me realise I needed 2 changes for whole days on the road. One was a better seat (read wider, firmer and more support) and the other would be a slightly higher screen (still working on that). I did investigate having my seat altered but the good ones were even more than a TT seat!

Hi jacq i now have 3 options the concept, a ttec seat or a gel conversion from the bike shop, doing my own upholstering is a real mine field for foam choice after visiting a local foam supplier, the gel option is the cheapest at around 100 but i would prefer the tt its just the price!!!
Is the hump in the tt seat in the same position as standard ? I would prefer it further back. I have the skid marks high screen it is better but not much, the clip on wind deflector options are supposed to work but the tt option which seems to be the best is again ridiculously priced I may end up making my own.

You can try this extension for the screen. It was mentioned on one of the threads on here. Can't remember which one or by who.
