Camping Options for the XT660.COM Anniversary Party

I've looked at some possible options for those interested in camping over the weekend of the 10th Anniversary Party/Meet.

At this stage we're open to any other suggestions. Some of you who live in the south east may have some recommendations? I'd like to try do a recce and get a group booking organised ASAP. So get your thinking caps on!

It would also be handy if those that want to camp make sure that is indicated next to your name in the sign-up thread: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=24829

Somewhere in Buckinghamshire would be a great bet.
There's a campsite just under Ivinghoe beacon, so only a 40 min run to Ace through the Chiltern Hills.
Been there once for an ABR meet. I live about 10 miles from there, it's far enough outside London to be nice, but still close enough to go to Ace.

Oi WeaveMcQuilt, how about you drop over there and do a recce (pics are good), have a word with the site people and explain what we need, you can be our man on the ground to get this organised!

Just an idea but it will help get this event rolling. I for one would like to come down on the Thursday and camp over that night and then have an explore on the Friday.

Cheers Steve

Very important notification - please read!

ATTENTION ALL ATTENTION ALL

Pleiades is my witness on this, the short story is that since I have announced to the Ace Cafe owners that we intended to host our 10th anniversary party at their premises they have been nothing but unfriendly, unwelcoming, obnoxious, completely difficult to deal with.

I guess since their popularity and glory has grown in the last years, they have become callous and greedy.

5 years ago they would bite my arm off, when we had our 5th anniversary party the couldn't wait to have 40+ of our members dining there. Fast forward to 2015 and they made no effort to provide an ideal environment for us, they offered a date when there were 2 car meetings and no parking for bikes, then I said, well lets forget that, how about a day when you don't have cars, just bikes and he said Sun 22nd May but I can't serve you food at lunch time because it's my busiest time and I've got queues from the counter to the outside so you are welcome but your guests can only be served food at 6:00pm.

For those of you who knows me by now, my patience is on a short fuse, and quite politely I told him I didn't want to put my guests to those unwelcoming restrictions and that he could stick is CAFE right up his ACE.

--------------

So now I've got two much more welcoming venues I am working on pending replies from the owners I will announce those shortly as for the camping, forget Lee Valley we won't be nowhere near the A40 or A406, but think of it somewhere close to the seaside near a beautiful marina with yachts and boats... all to be revealed and PLENTY of space for not 100's but even 1000's of bikes. If I get this deal you guys will thank me. Even the food is better and cheaper than the ACE.
