New Indicators
As I've just fitted a tail tidy from Off-The-Road, I've got new indicators front and rear. Fitted fine, had to change the bullet connectors on the indicators as they were too small for the originals.
Wired it all up put it back together, then went to check everything was in order. Right flashed fine, left Flashed fine. Hazards Flashed once, then nothing. Now both indicators don't work. I'm guessing a fuse has gone, and will need replacing. Didn't have time to check. Anyone else had a similar issue with fitting new after market indicators? Should I check for another fault somewhere?

Are they LED indicators or with filament bulbs?
You need to be careful with aftermarket filament types as they are often supplied with 21W bulbs. The XT indicator relay needs 10W bulbs; the relay can cope with max 10W x 4 = 40W (3.3A) which will allow 2x 21W bulbs to flash because that's roughly the same demand as in hazard mode (4x 10W). However, as soon as you hit the hazard button you've 4 x 21W = 84W (7A) and is too much for the relay (and the fuse when you add the other loads of sidelights etc). If they're LED they may well do funny things because of the opposite reason - they'll draw too little current (unless resistors are added or a new electronic relay is fitted). Usually this just means they flash fast, but other problems can manifest themselves too. |

They are the filament type. I believe they are 13W bulbs. Hopefully I can swap the bulbs out for 10W ones and that'll be problem sorted.
Will have to check that tonight.

Cheers guys, Just looked at the oxford products website and seen that they are 21W bulbs, maybe I can't read.
That's a useful part. Where does it plug in to?

As I mentioned earlier, you have the choice of replacing the four indicator bulbs with 10W ones, or sticking with the 21W bulbs and fitting an electronic indicator relay (as in the link) which is current independent. The bulb option will be the cheaper, but fitting an electronic relay in place of the OE one will allow fitment of LED bulbs should you want to do so at a later date. The electronic indicator relay just plugs in place of the stock one.

Yep, I have got the same, works perfect and is plug and play - replaces the OE one directly 2 min job to fit in
