Sticky seat syndrome

Hi, for a couple of months now the seat on my 07 xtx has became really sticky !! To the point that when riding, my jeans are sticking to the seat. Seams to be just the grey section in the centre, its starting to turn a brownish colour now. I,be scrubbed it with cif cleaner, but as soon as any sun hits it there are sticky patches all over it again. I'm in Northern Ireland, so its hardly a heatwave zone just wondering if anyone else had this problem.

I've never had a motorcycle seat go sticky on me, but I've had lots of bicycle handlebar grips go that way, some in only a few months. Sounds as though the seat it starting to break down. It maybe time for a recover.
Could also be a result of something you might be cleaning it with ? But look on the bright side at least you won't be sliding off the back when you crack the throttle open.

Might sound daft, but give WD40 a go. Rub it in gently with a cloth to return the sticky stuff back to the oily substance it once was. Once you've done the WD bit, wash it all off with a strongish soap solution.

If the vinyl is badly broken/breaking down though, it will come back again and the only fix will be to re-upholster the seat.
