DYI prop stand for Tenere

For my trips on the Tenere i wanted a simple prop stand for on the road. When i have a flat, i want to be able to put the bike with the front or rear wheel of the ground to make working on it easier.
I have to mention that i dont have nor want a center stand.

I got the idea somewhere on this forum from Flyboy ( http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=22786)
Credits go to him, this is just my execution of the prop stand.

One taketh a crutch. These cost about 25 to 30€ for a proper set. You'll only need one.

For tools:

- saw (metal, small teeth)
- tape
- file/sanding paper
- pliers
- dremel with drill, cutter and grinder bits
- measuring device

Take the crutch apart. Drill out the rivets from the handle, so the aluminum tubes break free.

I've used the top tube and upper part of the bottom tube. Also i removed the arm ring from the top plastic part. Keep the bolt/nut.

Cut/saw the tubes to the needed lengths (big tube is about 30cm, small tube about 13cm). The shorter tube (which used to be the top one is provided with an extra set of holes for the holding clips (or whatever their name may be).

Also i've grinded and cut out the slot on the plastic part that used to be the armring holder. This then slots into the center stand slot on the bike.

With the parts left over i can make two kinds of prop stands, with different lengths for both front and back. All the parts just weigh in at 173 grams.

Front:

And back:

And the positioning on the centerstand mountinghole. Use the bolt to secure it in place, so the stand wont slip out of place.

It is very easy to get the bike on the stand. You can do it by your self sitting on the right side of the bike. Use the handlebars or the rear handles to push the bike up. Make sure to use the steering lock. Also check that the bike is balanced well, so it wont twist and slip of the prop stand.

I'm sorry to say Andorra was an enormous disappointment for me.

But I like your idea.

Hit the N260 anywhere in the Pyrenees and you won't go wrong.
But Andorra... It's like a drive-thru shopping mall.
