Garmin Montana 600 Bundle

So there I was, on my night shift, experiencing my normal night shift hyper manic mood that I know leads on to MD spending money on impulse buys when I saw the Montana 600 with GB discoverer map for 299 on this website: http://navi-technology.co.uk
Now I'm a sucker for a god deal, but the last thing I want is to be sold a refurb device from an online company with potentially poor customer service.
My brilliant plan? Pop into my local gooutdoors and ask for a price match. They had to call 3 staff and a supervisor to confirm they were the exact same make and model, and after waiting for an eternity, they finally gave in. Result is I now have a brand new Montana 600 for the matched price and an extra 10% off!! And added peace of mind of buying from a retailer that I know.
So if you have been pondering whether to get one or not, now may just be the right time boys!

I have had mine for a couple of years...great bit of kit. I have Open Street Maps installed on mine to stretch as far afield as Morocco. I find OSM is better than Garmin maps with more detail. I only use basecamp as a storage program for all my routes and waypoints.

I'm getting my head around basecamp and its not very user friendly! May well have to try OSM. Thanks for the tip!

Yip..As I say I only use BC for storing routes and waypoints I've ridden.

I tend to use OSM for any type of forest trails/off road riding and switch over to Garmin for town riding here and there. OSM has more town detail which works well, even down to silhouettes of buildings which can be handy. All this to say I like the option of switching over to have more or less detail as I want whilst 'on the hoof'.

If I want to plan a route I just use the actual GPS with the Route Planner icon. You add in where you want to go (either by town names, waypoints or map points that you'll choose etc)and it'll connect each waypoint for you and off you go.

Sometimes,if for example my buddy has made a route up for the next day....he'll share it with me over bluetooth over breakfast and off we go. Dead handy.

Don't forget if you go to the avoidance section you can avoid such things as autoroutes etc.

The way I have my home screen set up works well for me where I can access all I need when riding with just 9 icons. This is what I have used for the last 4 years and have never felt the need to change it.
