When can we get a decent set of Cush drives shame on Yamaha original one are s***e sick of packing original ones I love my XTR but these Cush drive rubbers are a pain

Hi guys were do I get a good upgrade set for the Cush drive rubbers because original one are poor help

There was someone making replacement poly cush drives, I never tried them
myself and Im sure someone will pop along shortly and let you know where to
start looking. It seems some XT's suffer more than others. My XT660Z used to
eat them. 500 miles from new and sprocket would have play. Stuffing strips of
tube into the wheel hub used to make them last for about 5k miles. Just to put it in
perspective I had never changed a set of cush drive rubbers on any bike ever until
I got the XT. I read a post somewhere that suggested the sprocket bearing could
be modded to make the cush drives last a bit longer. Guess if you search here you
will find.

So Chrissy,

You've seen the thread in which we asked if you'd be interested in tougher Cush drive rubbers.

You posted in it too, which meant you must have read how it's in the pipeline and they are being prototyped and developed currently.

And then you chose to start another cush drive thread (in the same forum), which has now pushed the number of cush drive related threads on this forum to over 1,000,000.


I shall leave you the only piece of advice I can give you at this time, without being rude.

I know that Technik Suspension in Aus have been modifying the rear sprocket carrier by machining out the bearing hole so that you can put two bearings side by side, to stop the flexing as the rear wheel rotates. You can send a wheel into them and give them some money or probably find a local machine shop to help you out.
