Welcome to this wonderful forum Kurt!
My exhaust: MTC Titanium. Why? Because it's cheap for it's quality and works well with the Tenere! Only the dB-killer is crap, but it is doable to fix that part yourself... Enjoy your ride, really a nice motorbike. |

Depends very much on whether you want twin or single cans, how important factors like looks, weight and whether they have cats are to you, as well as (perhaps most importantly) what your budget is.
I had an Akrapovic twin can system fitted for several years which, although it sounds good, is expensive, heavy and still contains power-robbing catalysts. I considered replacing with the OTR Akrapovic single can, but it's very pricey and doesn't really follow the lines of the bike too well IMO. OTR's own single can system put be off because the cans themselves seem disproportionately large. I seriously looked into MTCs, but again (like the OTR Akra) didn't like the way the link pipe sits low and doesn't follow the contours of the bike. Good price though and even cheaper if bought through the forum. Scorpion cans (twin) follow the lines of the bike well and I nearly pulled the trigger on some, but in the end decided to go single can so I could fit a big homemade tool tube on the right and save the maximum amount of weight. Final toss up was between MTC and Exan. MTC wins on price, but for me the Exan tipped the balance based on low weight and how it looks, and the fact it was only a few quid more expensive (with favourable exchange rates bought from Italy). You can find out more about my Exan experiences here. |

Another vote for Exan as I also think they are better looking than some of the other options. The only problem I've had with it is the baffle disappeared while trail riding in Spain last year, a noisy ride back to the UK.
My main reason for going for a single exhaust was to make room for a tool tube. |

An alternative i looked into was Superpole: they can do a Akrapovic look-alike for about € 425
But it has to be custom made, because they haven't done one for the Tenere yet. And since i was without any silencer, i decided to go for a 'standard' aftermarket option I decided to go for Exan X-cone Black also. I like the looks even better in real life. It looks better then the photo's i think |

Thanks for all the reactions.
I think I will go for the 'Exan X-Black Single Exhaust' also ! Greetings, Kurt |

Thank you folks for info, Exan it is then as wight is important to me and i love the look. Unfortunately i have to get stainless steel, as welding in some countries im going to might be a problem to weld titanium. As far as i understand Inox is stainless steal right? not good in metals tho if so then black inox is Stainless steel pipe right?

I am wondering how much louder it would be ? Does that system come with DB Killer inserts ? I like the Akrapovic twin system as it contours very nicely to the underside of the subframe, the actual cans are titanium and by removing the cats should allow it to breather a lot better. Looks like these are only available from Yamaha as the Akrapovic website does not have them listed for the Z Tenere. Thanks for any info \m/ Last edited by justgjt; 25-09-16 at 09:10. |

You could quite easily cut open and remove the cats form their chambers provide you, or someone you know has the equipment and welding skills to do the job.
