Hi mate & welcome, as far as I know they all suffer from running a bit lean from the factory which results in 'surging' at some running speeds. I ride a Tenere myself & have fitted Kev's fuel & O2 mods which sort things out nicely. I believe fitting DNA air filters with the said Kev Mods are the way to go with the X model.

You'll be fine with an 07 model. These are the first models to be fitted with an O2 sensor and do benefit massively from fitting an O2 Controller as has already been touched upon. Regarding the fueling (surging), it may be worth having a read of this thread as it explains what years and ECUs are affected.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the fuelling, it can be sorted pretty cost effectively. Concentrate on getting the best bike you can for your budget, whatever the age. A service history (whether DIY with receipts or dealer), low miles and a bike that's been cherished and well cared for are more important factors than age. I've seen plenty of two/three year old dogs about, and plenty of nine/ten year old minters.
