xt660z rattle after 10 min'

This makes me nuts,
Yesterday ן adjusted the valves exactly by the book,
I adjusted the intake to 0.13
And the exhaust to 0.20

Everything went great, when I start the engine, it sounds great, no rattling, excellent sound, for 5-10 minutes until the engine warms up, then it starts rattling again,

What do you think is the reason? When the engine is cold it sounds great for a few minutes and then starts rattling

Do I needed to adjust the valves to a little less clearance?

60 Views but no response,
any way, If someone is having the same problem,
I fixed it by setting the valves to smaller clearance, I adjusted the intake to 0.10, and the exhaust to 0.18,
the noise (rattle) now disappear on cold or warm engine.

At first I thought that because of the hot weather here then you should adjust the valves most open, apparently I was wrong.
However, now everything is fine.

thank you.

Glad you got it sorted in the end.

Generally, for efficient running you want the valve clearances to be as tight as you dare go within spec. The only reason to side them on the wide side is to extend the service interval, a wider gap will allow more time to pass before the gap closes up due to valve face and seat wear. If you check your valves regularly then going to the tight end of spec is not an issue.

Pleiades is correct, I believe. Minimum clearance in roller rocker engines.

I'd just like to add that, in my experience, aluminium engines with roller rockers tend to sound terrible if valve clearances are set even a little bit wide.

A 610E Husky I owned had .002" clearances all round (from memory). Only a couple of thou more and it sounded awful. I also had the enduro 610 and (later) a 570 with 004" and 006" settings, and they rattled something terrible. Bloody great bikes, though. Especially the 570.

This probably why my Tenere is sounding better now than when I set the clearances mid-range 16,000km ago. Scared...
