Question will kev mod/filter/exhaust affect warranty.?

Hi, as the above mods are not too expensive and relatively easy to do , I'm tempted!. With the Ten beginning to feel run in and as I work the engine a bit more, I'm finding I'm quite happy with it's power and speed, but it feels like it just wants to breathe a bit more, to be let off the leash!!. I just hesitate as it comes with a two year warranty. ..? Or is it down to the discretion of the dealer.? Steve

Theoretically, fitting such mods should not directly affect you warranty; it certainly shouldnt invalidate it. The only thing that a dealer/Yamaha could quibble with, if you needed to make a warranty claim, is if the mod/accessory could be attributed to, or was the direct cause of the problem. For example, if you fit DNA Stage 3 filters and then melt your piston because its running lean, then you wont get any joy with the warranty. But fitting DNA filters isnt going to prevent you making a legitimate claim, lets say if your regulator/rectifier packs up or your spokes go rusty.

If you fit a Kev mod, O2 controller, DNA filters and an exhaust, assuming they are properly fitted and tuned, then you shouldnt have a problem. It is though, as you mention, down to individual dealers discretion and what their take is on any problem is should it arise. Some dealers are good with things like this and others are quite draconian. My suggestion would be to go and have a chat with yours and ascertain how they feel about such things.

You could of course keep all the stock parts and refit them if you did have a disaster, then no one would be the wiser!

Steve, I'm running the dna filters, Kev mod, with standard exhaust, and that certainly frees her up a bit, I'm thinking of an exhaust upgrade. But have to keep the neighbours in mind!..I have really early starts sometimes..

In all the years that we have been running this forum we have never seen a warranty claim rejected from any of the mods mentioned above.
