removing fuel pump?
Ok im really not having a good time with the bike. So I think I fixed my electrical problem. But while checking everything I ran the bike with the tank resting loose on the frame and it fell off tge bike. Which has snapped the fuel supply elbow, and ripped the connectors apart destroying them. I've a replacement pump on its way but cant get the old pump out. There is a tap about half way along thats catching not allowing the pump to come out. And any clues which wire goes where? Yup everything is f????d.

before yer buy a new pump.....
the pump unit comes apart.... you maybe able to drill & tap the plastic bottom section to put a brass pipe tail in with a rubber hose to the injector... i have only just put mine back in after a pump replacement.. Theres a few pump units on E-bay... here is just 3 of them... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-XT660...2fd265&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/FUEL-PUMP-TA...item418b59fdaf http://www.ebay.com/itm/POMPA-CARBUR...item4632d949a1

I got it all sorted, i found a good replacement on ebay, and the chap got it to me the next day, so i have a spare pump body and a seperate spare motor so will have a look at getting the broken unit repaired when i have time.
a hint for anyone having trouble removing the pump, there is a little bit of flex in the tab that catches, if your careful you can bend it to the side with some needle nose pliers just enough to get the clearance. |
