Speedo reading funny
Just back from a trip to London to see my friends whose just bought a street triple. Anywho on the way home on the motorway my GPS stopped charging in heavy rain, now this isn't the first time and not sure if it's the wiring or the cradle. so I turned off the sat nav. Had a stop where I turned the bike off and took the sat nav with me. Then when I got back on the motorway I was in top gear at 4.5k revs which normally reads 75mph but speedo was reading 68-72mph and would flicker at any speed in between. I turned my sat nav on to find my speedo was reading wrong and it should have been 75mph. after about and hour of going up and down to 40mph and 80mph a few times it would read correct but 99% the wrong. I stopped again about and hour and bit later. Looked under the seat and my neg cable for the sat nav was held on by a single wire. After this break my speedo seemed to be reading ok for the rest of the ride.
Is this a bad connector, dodgey something???

If you have a bad neutral the device can sometimes reroute a connection through another circuit which is most likely what happened. It was grounding itself and interrupting the speedo somehow.
I was working on a order picking crane once and the looped neutral burnt - dam thing had chattering relays and at one point took off on its own!
