Smile Russian rider preparing to RTW on Tenere

Hello again to all fellow XT-riders.
I just want to share with you my site about next year RTW trip on my XT660Z (I hope to start the journey in May, 2015).

I will be really glad to meet you in person while this trip, or even share some paths together (for example in Marocco). Could you also help me to make the best route, by adding points of interests in the Route section of this site. It is in a process of translating, but I hope that google translate could help you a bit.

Waiting for feedback, and for interesting ideas and places.
And sorry for my English

Hi Helgi

Best of luck with your trip.

I was looking at your route and see when you ride to southern France to Bayonne that this takes you on an autoroute. If you have to keep to this general route I'd take the coastal roads south of Bordeaux especially if you've no time frame...if you've a GPS then just enter in what routes to avoid...i.e. autorutes.

All great long surf beaches littered with campsites and with the Gulf Stream hitting here the water is warm for swimming.

If you're not obliged to stick to this route then I'd peel off from the coast and come across by Dax etc and head e.g.to Pau and pick up your original route to Spain again if so desired, riding over the Pyrenees e.g via Col de Pourtalet.

It would be a shame to miss out some great alpine type scenery and twisty roads IMO. Your route over into Spain via St Jean de Luz is autoroute also.

Roads here: e.g. A63 or an A64 is autoroute (You'll also see these as e.g. E5 or E9 etc )These will be marked in blue on a paper map.

Those marked with e.g. N9 or RN12 will be a a Route National(National Route) which could also have stretches of dual carriageway. These will be marked in red on a paper map.

After that then you'll have D roads,e.g. D928..these are departmental roads i.e. normal smaller local roads.

Anything else you would like to know from my area just ask.

All the best

Keith

Thanks for your comments!
I have to sorry for misunderstanding about my route.. On my site is only GENERAL plan, not the real route. This is an adventure for my life, and I would not change it for highways. For sure I will avoid main roads and will travel by country roads with interesting scenery and places around. That is why I made this map-maker on my site, and this is why I ask YOU to place the marks on that map, with interesting points you know about) To have a collection to choose from.

And I wil be really happy to meet you and share a cup of coffee, or ride together few kilometers or couple of thousands kilometers)))

Waiting for your places)

Good morning Helgi.

Thank you for your more in depth explanation.

Good to know you're taking your time and will have the opportunity to see many different sights.

No problem is passing for a ride out and a beer for sure. I can advise on great routes and scenery in my local area and on over into Spain.

I can also advise on Morocco as I frequent there annually on my XT.

You can have a look here for information.

I take it you'll be traveling with a GPS and some sort of portable computer?

All the best
