Hello from England, West Sussex
Hi all
I bought an XT660Z tenere last Friday so thought I'd join up here. I had already checked out a few posts prior to buying the bike and realised what a great resource xt660.com is. I bought the bike mainly to ride to work and back as since moving my daily commute is now 60 miles. Fortunately that is 60 miles of twisty A and B roads and depending on what route I take can even include some green lanes. I was initially going to buy a NC700X (mega cheap to run) but the majority of people I spoke with said it's very dull. The looks and mild off road ability attracted me to the XT and I couldn't be happier with it. I would love to do some extended touring on it but having recently become a dad to twins that's not likely for a few years. The model I bought was a 2013 in blue with only 1500 miles on so hopefully it'll last me a long time and one day I'll get to do some longer trips on her. Look forward to reading more on the site and hopefully may be able to contribute a bit to. Cheers all :-) Forgot about a picture, will get and post one asap. I picked mine up last Saturday! think you made right choice compared to the Honda. Congratulations on twins BTW - hope you're managing to get some sleep!

Thanks for the welcome, I managed to get a picture on the way to work this morning taken half way up a green lane (the bikes natural habitat ;-)). The more I ride this bike the more I love it. I did a mpg calculation after my second fill up and it's doing just over 54mpg which I'm quite happy with. Yeah I definitely made the right choice in getting this over the Honda. My plan was to not spend any money on the bike and keep it standard but as ever I think that's unlikely. Nothing too drastic though as I want to keep costs down and not mess up the fuel economy. I've tinkered with the bars and lever positions to get it comfortable for me, I've got a set of old school Renthal half waffle grips and some Symtec Heat Demon grip warmers on order. I want to get rid of the cat so I'll either try and fit up an old akra can I've got or do the de-cat mod on the standard exhaust and then swap out the air filter. In my dreams, usd forks excel rims talon hubs, new bars and risers bash plate etc... Lol, to be honest it's great as it is and one Yamaha definitely got spot on. Thanks ChrisHX, sleep is definitely something I'm missing although my missus is pretty good and does the night feeds, most of the time :-/ Hope you enjoy yours as much as I am mine, is it your main transport or more for fun?
