Would you consider cruising the Tenere at 4800rpm (80 mph on the speedo) comfortable/acceptable?

Done it many a time, for mile upon mile. No problem at all.

Don't forget though, that's more like 70mph in the real world, what with the Z's speedo's overactive imagination!

Done also last weekend for 1'600 km - but just in the non-cruising curving parts of my longer trip. For beeing really comfortable i prefer arount 3'500 to 4'000 rpm's.

But on the highway in Germany i had for longer time also 5'000 rpm's at 130 km/h real or 140 km/h on the instruments.

Don't worry about it - if it's comfortable for you - the XT will take it easily .
