Not having taken any front forks apart before and knowing there is a special tool for holding the damper rod to enable it to be undone, l've taken one leg apart to this stage.

Is there any other way of holding the damper rod to enable the bottom external hex drive bolt to be undone?
Does this special tool actually locate in the very bottom of the damper rod or is it purerly an itnerferance fit (being cone shaped) with the top of the damper rod.

All l am wanting to do is replace the oils seals so i gather l do have to separate the inner and outer legs.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
