After seeing this thread about BMW 650GS forks failures I started to worry about that part in motorcycle. Have something like that ever happened to yamaha bike???
![]() I don't know if you've seen this post, very scary: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=371650 |

![]() The casting on an XT is much more beefy at that point. Also I think the BMW forks are only 41mm too? However, it is not uncommon of for over-tightened pinch bolts to cause the axle mounting hole to crack on the right hand leg on XTs. They don't need tightening up nearly as much as a lot of people think! ![]() |

As far as I can tell, it doesn't seem to be a common problem with the BMWs. Admittedly, I didn't read the whole thread. The armchair lawyers got a bit repetitive. I guess we shouldn't be too surprised about stuff like this. Everyone wants bikes to be lighter/faster/stronger and cost peanut money. Factories have to make money... |

Sorry, you misunderstood me. I was being sarcastic. There is no way, ever, that shoddy, cheap workmanship or design should be tolerated in any vehicle.
