MTC exhaust questions
Hi all,
Been reading several threads but that's just raised more questions. Seriously considering purchasing and fitting the single can, basic stainless exhaust from MTC. First I'd like to understand: 1. How loud is the exhaust. I leave the house at 7am everyday so don't want to become unpopular with the neighbours. Had a GPR bike on a 250 before which was verging on too loud. 2. Does the exhaust foul the OEM panniers? 3. Does it burn said panniers or top boxs which are fitted (mines is Givi)? 4. Any other mods I should look at doing at the same time? Thanks for the help all. Well you no doubt read a few of my posts ref the noise (too loud for me) and that the round one was way too close to the panniers. But someone popped up saying his fitted fine. I leave home at 5am so it was way too loud for me.

Hi redbikejohn.
Thank you, yes, your post about noise concerned me, but I gather the latest versions are quieter. Not sure if this is true or not though. I missed your post about panniers, take it that was the OEM ones in both cases. Thanks, Penfold |

Yes it was oe panniers. You can sort of get it to fit as its possible to swivel the link pipe a bit but it was too close for comfort for me as the oe ones are plastic and only aluminum coated.
I was never that pleased with the way they sat in pictures but picked up one second hand for a good price to try. The gutted and drilled oe pipe is quite a bit louder than stock and this pipe was louder again by the same amount. Due to the angle of the frame and space I think its difficult to get one to fit as I'd like and still have enough internal space to dampen noise without affecting performance.

I have 2 Leo Vince end pipes on my XTX and they are NOT loud, just a bit more "full" sound which is great for safety in the city. Some extra noise is also generated on the intake side when you let the engine breath better (remove snorkel and so on).

Yea a friend bought one with Leo twin cans on and its wasn't much louder than my drilled oe. I was surprised it wasn't. Look nice but pricey.
