Kriega US-system size advice

Looking at investing in the Kriega US-system. All other of their products are simply awesome. Probably do a smaller rollbag on the rear rack as well.

Planning to fit a US30 + two US20 side mounted on the US30 (as in the US70 combo) on my XT660R pillion seat. However few pictures of that setup, as its quite big. Is it to big? Would a US30 + two US10 be more sensible? That does however make less sense, as the US20 can be made smaller. Doing a US20 + two US10 is an alternative, but doesn't provide much space.

Anyone tested US20 + two US10 or any US30-combo, or even have pictures of it? Hard to find pictures and advices to apply on the size on and XT660R.

Picture or US70 combo:

Hi,

I've got a US20 and Two US10's combo that I use on the Z. They fit nicely on the rear rack and fit all my camping gear for a weekend trip minus the tent, roll mat and sleeping bag which go in a roll bag on the pillion seat just in front. Nice and neat and compact. Would recommend.

I find the bigger the bags the more you take and end up not using. Also on the Z this weight is quite high up which is not so good.

I have now switched to ARD panniers for the convenience and low down weight. Still got the Kriega gear for occasional use.

Hope this helps and good luck with the choice.

Scott.

I took have the 20+10+10 combo.

I can fit all my 'civilian' clothes into the 20 for a week. I do have a system of packing that involves using roll-up-vacuum-bags to take the air out and 2 TT 'cubes' ( http://shop.touratech.co.uk/touratech-cube-red.html) that fit inside the US20 perfectly.

There are some that cast a suspicious eye over packing things in bags , to go in bags.... But I can get more in this way than I can just stuffing stuff in, as I say, I can pack a weeks worth of clothes into the US20.

The really goo d thing about the US range, you could be a US20 and a US10, if it's not enough, then go buy another US20, or a US30 - they all attach together one way or another.

I even made a 'strappy' carrier to carry a 5L fuel can, attached to the US20!

+1 I came to pretty much the same conclusion.

After buying some Kriega US (20 & 30) luggage a few years ago, I have to say that I haven't used them, which tells a story in itself. I find all the straps and hooks and bits and pieces fiddly and time consuming to fit and secure properly, it just takes too long to get up and running. The bags don't really work unless they're stuffed full either; they're much easier to cinch down when stuffed to the gunnels. You can't easily puts things in, or take things out without loosening everything which then takes an age to get right again. They are top quality though.

All this is why a tend to automatically reach for my LOMO top loading 40L dry holdall and a couple of ROK straps when I need soft luggage, rather than the Kriega stuff. It cost peanuts compared to the Kriega bags and is so much easier to use and the 40L Lomo bag bizarrely holds more than the US-30 and US-20 paired together (which should equate to 50L)?

I'd quite happily off-load my hardly used US-20 and US-30 if anyone's interested?

Smile

I have to agree with the above 3 posts. As much as I like the US5 bag I use as a tool bag on my XR I wouldn't want to strap lots of bags together then strap onto a rack. It would take forever to pack/unload and if anything was needed whilst out on a ride it would be a pain to access it.
Can't beat a roll bag
