Smile Now then, from Leeds

Hi all,

Just thought I best say hello in here before wading in with a thousand and one questions in the technical sections.

I've just picked up an XT660r last week and I think it's fantastic! I've been looking for a touring/adventure style bike for some time and was nearly set on the BMW F650 but realised just in time that I didn't want to be a sheep and become another Ewan and Charlie wannabe!

I've put about 500 miles on the XT and with the exception of the surging at low speeds, I love it! It pulls like a tractor up hills, is as comfy as an arm chair, great fun to ride and gets great MPG (71.4 average so far).

So I'll leave you all with a photo of my new beast and will be off to make a nuisance of myself with some techy questions.

Welcome on board mate.

Nice looking early model you've got there.

Thanks for the tips, I'll have a good look through all of those.

As for the MPG, when the sheet ice melts from the roads, the MPG might start to drop
