grommet
Hi Folks,
Looking for the benefit of your collective wisdom if possible...... I have a new shock on the way for my 660z, and have modded the airbox to make the swap a simpler job. So 32mm hole drilled in order to get a socket to the top mount (which works a treat). Top bolt turned around and all is good. Now the problem I have is obtaining a suitable blanking grommet to fit the hole I have sourced some 32mm blanking grommets, but as anticipated they are to fit 1.5 mm thickness tin plate (makes sense as they are intended for elecrical back boxes / conduit etc). The hole is currently blanked with one of these however its not ideal. I wondered if anyone on here had managed to find a source for rubber blanking grommers for a plate thickness of 4mm (which is what the back of the airbox is). If so I would appreciate knowing where they came from. All input gratefully recieved. Kindest Regards, Urchin |

Pleiades,
I think you are right !, thanks for the nudge in the right direction. I had been hunting on E-Bay and Google but not on automotive restoration spares sites....which is why I was just seeing the ones for 1.6mm plate pop up all over E-Bay. There are a few places I used when i restored a mini a while back, Ill start with those. I would respond to your quip about Wallace, but the versions of chrome and firefox I'm using on my phone are difficult to use - "It's the wrong browsers Grommit !" sorry, I couldn't resist either ![]() |
