Lakes VI - The Dates
Good day, and a happy 20th November to you all.
It's getting to that slightly downtrodden part of the year, the long warm summer days (ah-hem) have all but left us here in the northern hemisphere. Faced with dark mornings, cold and damp rides and the ubiquitous road salt it's not the most enjoyable time to ride for most. Usually, we kick off the annual gathering thread after Christmas, but in the past many people have commented about getting the dates a bit earlier, so they can organise travel, leave, wife & girlfriends! So here it is, in 2014 Lakes VI will take place on ; 8, 9, 10, 11th May 2014 The 8th is a Thursday, as always you are completely free to arrive and depart when you wish. As always, we will have a covered area to congregate, pass the time and talk ******socks into the wee hours, and lets not forget keeping dry! (it's called the Lake District, not the Dry Arid District for a reason). We will endeavor to secure the same camp site as we have used in the past two years, it's perfectly located, secure and we get a sense of wildness coupled with hot & cold water!! 2014 will go back to our roots a little, we'll put together some guided rides if you want them, there will be some road stuff, rougher stuff and maybe a long range ride out into Northumberland and Keilder for those interested. For those of you who may want a bit of sight seeing, there is a possibility of sorting some trips to local places, should you desire it. The sub-forum is open, if you have an idea, question, want to say what you enjoy, or dislike (apart from SteveD's now infamous tent exposure from 2011). Maybe you have some photos from earlier year you'd like to share ? We'll start a 'who's coming' thread of after Christmas, give you all time to work on the authoriser-of-bike-trips, whoever they are . Over to you......
