corroded spokes

Ok, so I have had my brand new tenere 6 days and tonight I took the chainguard off to fit a rear hugger and the spokes are all corroded already! I've only done 190 miles, bike has never been in the rain or even washed yet, is this normal or is it back to the dealers for a waranty claim, I just thought they were dirty but they are all black, corroded and pitted

Same here on my XTX rear wheel some say its down to the brake pad fillings reacting with coating on the spokes, i was told no way will Yamaha stand the claim.

The paint work on the spokes aren't the best but that is a bit excessive. I would take it into the dealer and refuse to leave until that give you a solution that your not paying for.

In Germany, corroded spokes will be replaced under warranty.

And if your dealer is a little unwilling, call Yamaha directly.
