White spirit is the best stuff for getting rid if oil, grease, tar and rubber deposits. After that use whatever you normally use to clean the bike. For tarnished stainless use Autosol, but avoid it on the aluminium (unless you want it shiny!
).

If its really stubborn then put the white spirit on with a rag and leave it there for a minute before rubbing. Ten go over it again with a fresh bit off rag and white spirit to tidy it all up. Works a treat.
I had an awful mess on my pipes after shoeing on a new set of TKC, then doing 300 miles on the A1, the molten rubber got everywhere! Sorted in ten minutes with white spirit. |
