14T front actual difference

Hi

Got a JT front 14T sprocket that im prob going to put on. my issues with the Ten are..

1) 1st gear down hill, it seems to tall therefore to fast on none/closed throttle.

2) slow speed control means quite a lot of feathering the clutch. but to combat this, i just ride faster

3) on the motorway in 5th you need to be around 4600 - 4900RPM to smooth it out, if you sit just below 4500RPM it buzzes and just feels crap.

4)if your doing a hill climb is 2nd the engine is chugging / getting bogged down...like you need be in a 1.5 gear (1st is no good as it spins)

My bike is stock and i know the Kev mod / airfilter /exhaust mods help. Im going to do all this (plus more) over the winter.

So...if i put the 14T on the front what will that do to the things ive listed?

Thanks
Phil

It will improve all you've listed but will increase fuel consumption a bit on the motorway. It will throw the speed out too so best invest in a speedo healer. Changed gearing on most of my bikes but they all had front wheel drives for speedo and the trend for gearbox drives nowadays is crazy on bikes that have any likelihood to go off-road as people like to change gearing. Thought about it many a time but as it turns out I've not used mine off-road as much as I thought I would so not done it yet although to be fair its only the extra cost of the speedo healer that has put me off really.

The answer is yes!

However................

It will lead to higher stresses on the chain and increased ware on the front sprocket - you would have to keep an eye on this.

If you are going to be doing a lot of off road very 'technical' stuff I would say go for it.
If not stick with the 15t and concentrate on the air in and exhaust out improvements.
I would not do it just to get rid of the buzz you mention - for this check security/torque of engine mount bolts especially if you have disturbed them whikle fitting a skid plate/bars.
I did not fit a speedo healer as I was travelling slower than indicated - the right side of the law!.
Just my thoughts.
