Size of oil drain bolt (Frame) ? Mine has sheared at the head!..

my drain bolt has just sheered at the head and i need to drill it out, thus needing a new bolt. anyone recommend a decent bolt that wont fail after 1 year? a simple oil change has turned out to be a very annoying day

cheers

I would have thought any old bolt the right thread and length would do along with a crushable washer and a torque wrench. I did my XTR 2-3 weeks ago: from memory it's a 12mm hex bolt about 20mm long so probably an M8 thread. Torque was either 18 or 20Nm - which is not that tight.

I am a bit pissed and not at home to look it up so all the above may be rubbish.

haha! i'd buy it! I didn't even over tighten it last oil change, so it's very frustrating that it is totally welded tight! i think im going to have to flush out any crap thats ended up in the frame too.
ive given up for today so will carry on tomorrow... updates to follow

Nasty one this and easy to have this experience as the metal is very soft. I saw some ebay shops offering substitute drain plugs with easy removal taps inside, thus solving the problem, I will have a glance on fleabay and let you know if I find them. Good luck!!
