Thumbs up Installing my new mods

So, my engine mods arrived in the post the other day from a special person in Australia and I set to work immediately installing them along with my DNA Stage 1 & 2 which have been sat on my shelf, ready for this moment...

Here goes!

O2 Mod first, so Left hand side panel off, reveals the underside of the tank, the radiator fan and 2 wiring looms.

The one on the left is the fan power, don't touch that.
The one on the right is the one we want, a thumbnail under the clip and a little tug separates the connector.

Plug in the O2 Mod, and find somewhere suitable to mount it. I simply unscrewed one of the fan mounts and screwed it back in with the O2 Mod in place. Then ziptied the top to the fan mounting.

That was easy! Side panel back on, let's go for a spin.

Straight away, I can feel the O2 Mod doing what it's supposed to do. Low power in gears 2, 3 & 4 doesn't seem to faze it.
Normally when it would slug its way through 2,000 - 3,000 RPM, chug chug chug... you don't get any of that.
Also, I used to ride the clutch all the way round a roundabout... Nope, not any more. Just drop it into third and round you go.

20 miles later...

Right! Kev Fuel Mod time.

The bit we're looking for is under the forward part of the snorkel, on the left hand side. Remove the snorkel, and you'll see the back of the probe in that hole.
Take your air filter cover off, and you'll see the probe staring you right in the face.

Just poke it through into the space between the engine and under seat.
You might find its wiring is wrapped round a mount for the tank, just untangle it (small fingers required) and you'll be able to pull it all the way out to where the air filter is.

Read your KevMod instructions carefully here, only snip the wire you're supposed to. I threw the connector block away and soldered the connections, heatshrinked and then retaped up the sheathing for the loom.

Done, just tidy up the wiring for the FuelMod unit, run it neatly and secure the FuelMod somewhere under the seat.

Now here, you can see I put the original snorkel back in.
Thought I'd do a little test first.

DNA air filter with stock cover (snorkel). KevMod set to about 2PM
Off we go

Well... not a great deal of difference here. I've got a bit more engine noise (from the filter) but not a lot else.
Let's tweak the FuelMod... 4PM

Woops, that made it worse. I lost a bit on the top end and everything feels a bit stifled.

Right, time to dispose of the stock snorkel and put the DNA Stage 2 cover and reducing gasket in.

After a lot of playing around... (Note to self, start at the bottom and work up!) I started at 4/5PM and went all the way up to 9PM ... I finally figured out that 3PM is about right for my bike.
AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

I have no need for first gear anymore, could probably put it on the back wheel in second! (I would have dared to if my tyres weren't shagged)

Every gear is just smooth, no chugging (OK well I did get it to chug once or twice but only because I was really trying... should have dropped down two gears at least!) Power delivery is excellent while climbing through 3,000 to 6,000. Can get to top speed quicker, a FANTASTIC roar from the engine now, fuel economy is definitely increased.

Cruising in town at 30mph in 4th gear, 30mph limit suddenly becomes a 60mph limit... just open it up and go. No need to change down.
I'm not on that clutch anymore round every corner and roundabout.
I'm not hopping between gears in town, trying to decide if I should be doing 4,000 RPM in 2nd or stuttering along at 1,800 in 3rd.

This is like a brand new bike. Except better than a brand new bike. This is like a brand new bike with 6,000 miles on the clock, but better.

Kev, you're a bloody genius.

Installing my new mods

Nice write up. Another bike transformed! Surprising what a difference the O2 controller makes on its own.

BTW you don't really need to fit the restrictor in the stage 2 cover. That's just recommended when no fuelling device is fitted. Take it out and go to 4/5 o'clock on the dial for more smiles!

Nice write up. It still surprises me why the O2 Controller + fuel mod has not really taken off. As mentioned even with just the O2 controller your bike will be transformed.

By the way you made me laugh with your PM.

F'kn love you, man.

Got a little parcel all the way from Brissy.

It contained the best 120 I've ever spent.

I would happily let you marry my sister.

Cheers, mate
