Exhaust sound not usual
Hi guys, im about to buy a used tenere 2011 with 20.000Km on it and it seems to be in good shape. I have found that this machine differs slightly in the exhaust sound from what im used to as my girlfriend has her own tenere.
Her Tennie exhaust sound from a 2011 and 12.000Km of use is the typical taca taca taca from a single with some differentiating notes at the end, you know, the PFIUU sound... from the tennie. In her bike this "PFIUU" is not heard all the time, just at times when you slow down. i believe this is the normal sound. But the bike i plan to buy sounds this way all the time and this is something i found different as soon it was started. Could anyone give a clue? Regards Rodrigo |

Sounds like the bike you're looking at might have had its AIS blocked or disconnected?

Dude, i dont believe it could be disconnected but maybe blocked. Just to be sure, i'm referring to the tiny whistling from the exhaust. A technician from Yamaha told that this particular sound is not usual when the bike is idle.
Do you know where to check for blockings or similars in to the bike? best |

If it's been blocked is very likely to have been done like this...
http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=11113 Not so sure about a "whistling" sound, now you describe it like that? |

That sound is inherent to teneres, i dont know other word to describe it, it is just a sound after each explosion from the motor, usually when decelerate.

I also have the same whistling sound that yamaha said is normal. It is a bit irritating though. Isn't there a solution to that?
