Possible main switch broken?

Hi guys,
I just came over a weired thing. While the ignition is switched on and the engine is running I can remove the key and nothing happend.
With the key removed and ignition is on I can even start the engine.
I wonder if my main switch is broken in someway.

Cheers,
Marcus

The locks are pretty poor quality mine is always jamming up, is there a lot of wear on your key? crap in the lock could cause it to jam, try flushing the lock out with contact cleaner and lube it with graphite, see if it helps.
Best Regards,
Jim.

I'd guess it could be either a worn/sticky lock cylinder, or more likely a worn key. I believe the sole purpose of the uppermost notch on the key is to hold it in the lock when in the on position; if that is worn you will be able to pull it out.

If you've got an unused (or infrequently used) newer spare key, try that and see if it still does it? If it does then it maybe the cylinder that's wearing out, or a tumbler is sticking or stuck in its shell. Try a dry lubricant such as graphite powder available from a locksmiths (best not to use WD40, oil etc as they all get tacky after a while and can cause tumblers to stick.)

My 2 year old lock is also prone to sticking and now does not go to the parking light position. I frequently use WD40 so perhaps the dry lubricant is a good idea thanks.
