As the title, how much does the tank actually hold - from empty (or very nearly) to full).

I know in theory it's 15 litres and the fuel light comes on at 2/3rds or thereabouts (at which point mine takes 11litres). Not interested in miles per tank or mpg, just how big the tank really is. I once squeezed 20.5 litres into My old Transalp's 19 litre tank after running on fumes; and 27 litres into a 25litre Varadero tank.

So, what's the record for filling the tank. Mine is 14.2 litres but not into an empty tank.

With out chilling the fuel first.... As a guess , I would think 15L would be the most I could get into my 15L XTR tank...

No just want to know how much people actually get in. It's useful to know exactly how much is actually in the tank. I guess I will find out one day when I run out. My experience from all my bikes is that manufacturers statements about capacity are on the conservative side by a litre or two.

This subject brings me to a question I have fitted a Gilimoto 22.5 L tank which takes away the radiator shroud and makes it into fuel tank. My question is that part of the tank appears to sits lower than the fuel pump so how do you get to actually use that fuel or am I carrying fuel I can never use? Has anyone had experience with long rang tanks and is there a way to get all the fuel in the tank to may horse power and or noise?

I wondered the same with my Gilli tank... So I done a test...
it takes almost 3 liters before there is fuel up to the pump..

just need to get good at wheel stands...
But when moveing some of that fuel should flow back towards
the pump.... I have got almost 450km out of it before filling up..

Have a look for Kev's fuel tank neck mod you can get more fuel into the tank as long as you don't live in a tropical climate where the fuel can expand & over flow the tank if left in the sun, I used the mod to extra fuel range, full the tank 7 ride straight away.
