Brand new XT R... is the cut out problem solved?

Hi all. Picked up a brand new, good for you, XTR from a yam dealer in west London on Saturday. I was like a dog with two dicks. Instant love. Couldn't take thw smile off my mush until...... The bike cut out violently, not once but twice on the way home. Both times it was while idling. This is not a splutter then loss of revs but a sudden death with snapping sound. Both times it did not start straight away. Naturally this is dangerous at the lights. I'd heard of these problems before but had been assured that later models with a revised mapping system had this sorted. The dealer claimed this was normal in the run in period. I rode the bad boy today for 70 miles and there were no problems until returning to town when the inevitable happened. Another two cut outs. What do the people reckon? Thanks for having on the board by the way.

hi and welcome to the forum.

sounds like you need to turn the idle up, most of us run 1500rpm plus where as standard they run lower but cut out in town or on downshifts a lower revs.

Welcome mate , as mentioned 1500rpm is what you need at idle.

Thank you all. Its reassuring to know that its not me. Seems strange that the dealers aren't wise to this issue and crank the idle up before sending a new model out of the showroom. Does it ring true that engine does not start straight away following one of these cut outs? Its happened another three times on the short commute into work today. All very frustrating....

Angry

If that had happened to me riding a brand new bike from the dealers, I would have riding straight back
