XT660Z Engine noise

Hi, I have a 2011 bike with 22k miles on the clock, very clean with full Yam service history. Only had it 2 days (already had front puncture), as I was never able to get a demo ride I had to read an awful lot of reviews to make sure the bike was the one for me! Ok a couple of things strike me straight away - the standard exhaust pops and bangs on the overrun, it even pops between gear changes - local Yam dealer says they all do that? Secondly at around 3k revs doing around 40 mph I am getting a wirring noise from the engine, shut the throttle and it goes, open up and its back. Valve clearances done at recent service, new chain and sprockets fitted. Is this noise normal, maybe cam chain tension? Any thoughts......

The popping on overrun is the AIS - Search the forum for how to stop that.

Not sure about the noise, but thought can chain tension was adjusted automatically - pull the tensioner off the block and have a look inside.
