Do Renthal Jimmy Buttons go on an XTR with the standard clutch cable?
My clutch cable already feels awfully tight on full left lock. I have a set of Jimmy Buttons ready to go on, but I don't want to start it and then find that the clutch cable's too tight. Can I adjust in a little slack? Can I re-route the cable to fit? Or does it just go on without a problem?

Yes, they fit without re-routing. I did have to undo one or two of the cable ties to gain some extra play - but no problem.
Other guys are running the Enduro High bars which are slightly taller and wider without problem. |

Thanks Dale. I know you commented in another thread that you'd fitted the bars without an issue but I thought I'd throw it open in case different years had different cable lengths, routing etc.
Did you just loosen the cable ties along the bars, or do away with them completely? |

Not done away with them completely, they are now a mirror ornament

Damn it! I've taken the old bars off, have the new bars all ready with grips and bar ends, and it turns out my mate with the vice and drill press to drill the holes in the Renthals went on holiday! Aaarghh!!

Grab a file and remove the lugs from the inside of the switchgear. Took me about 5 minutes each side - no biggie.
Besides, there is a good argument to having the levers tight enough to remain in place, but loose enough to rotate should you hit the deck in a manner that compromises the barkbusters. |
