High Mileage Tenere

Whats problems should I look out for on a 30K+ miles 2008 660 tenere apart from the obvious like bearings, fork seals and general wear and tear?

Engine reliability at that mileage?
has anyone got experience of cams/crank/rings etc with that sort of mileage?

Any advice or opinions welcome

Cheers
Mark

I've been through a couple of sets of wheel and sprocket carrier bearings, a few sets of cush rubbers, a few chain and sprocket sets, a couple of sets of steering bearings, three gear levers and some of the rear linkage bearings by 37,000 miles. And the clutch is slipping.

However, my bike has been, erm, well-used.

On something that's primarily been used on tarmac, I'd check all the chassis bearings, but not expect there to be any issues. Engine will be fine.

Might be worth checking the gear lever. They wear loose and rattle on the spline, which does eventually wear the spline on the selector shaft.

Edit: And if it's still got the original shock in, it will be knackered.

At 90.000km's, my '08 Tenere hasn't had any major problems, had its regular services, no oilconsumption so far, still runnin' smooth(for a thumper!).
Some minor issues:
-breather replaced under warranty, '08 models had a badly designed breather;
-all locks replaced under warranty, typical Yamaha issue;
-cushdrive rubbers once replaced under warranty, thereafter at my own cost.
Greetz, Hans.

Engine is bulletproof. Oil consumptium might go up when the miles rack up (45000miles), but this depends on how harsh it has been ridden. If it becomes too much (say 1l:1000miles) you might consider a fresh set of piston rings (half a day's work for a pro mechanic).
