Yamaha top box

I've got the Yamaha panniers on my XT660Z and have been toying with getting the top box. Whilst looking at the accessories brochure I noticed it says they should not be used together.
Does anyone know the reason for this? I'm sure I have seen pictures of the bikes with it all on?

This is written about elsewhere on this forum, loads of people have them together myself included. It's fine! They are on totally different mountings so that can't be an issue. On a 2k trip they were all three packed, no issued.

It'll be fine...

I've done about 6000 miles over two trips with that lot on the back.

Thanks for the replies! Now do I need a rack or does it just bolt to the 4 fixings on the original small plastic framework?
Anyone know of a secondhand one for sale?

It doesn't need a rack, neither does it bolt on!

It's a reasonably well thought out design as the bottom of the top box fits into the slots on the rack of the bike and locks in place via the key/lock.

The locking system can be a little awkward at times, they are prone to sticking or even jamming up of you don't treat them with sympathy. Lots of people complain about this, but I had a topbox and it was fine - just kept it well lubricated and wasn't 'hamfisted' (as we same oop norf) with it, it served me well.
