A XT660Z Tenere in Ireland

Picked up my 2009 Tenere yesterday, it has not made it all the way home yet but is on the Island of Ireland and will complete the last 30 miles tomorrow.

Bought it near London and rode it back, very different from my FJR. I will post a review later after I get a ride in the Wicklow Mountains tomorrow.

Ride home was interesting, it is a high bike, I can half-foot each side, didn't make my planned ferry, got ice on my visor and gloves in freezing fog, had real trouble finding a B&B (I think single, irish men on motorbikes aren't popular), but sitting on the couch now so all good.

I have plans, need to get a few minor excursions done first and see what my off road skills are like, it is big yoke to be learning on.

Good looking forum and good tips and advice.

Welcome ! A good buy, I am sure you will like it. I am just looking at christmas presents, bike is standard and so far only used commuting and days out so looking at Tenere experience in Wales for some off road use and see where I go from there. Enjoy your bike and the Wicklow mountains, sounds great but cold

I got it home not in one piece. Low sided it on a greasy dirty country road a few miles from home. Silly boy, nothing that can't be fixed, 8 years riding an FJR nothing. 3rd day on a ten, doh.

Sorry for you Butt, after reading this it didnt sound that bad.. hope you can keep hold and get it back together, in fairness if you can sort the tank the rest of it is pretty cheap to sort. Get some pics of it up and there are probably some good guys here to give you some decent input

Why am I claiming? Because I have a protected bonus and the price of the damaged parts comes to over 1900. Which as a mate pointed out is completely ridiculous for a bike that is meant to fall over.

But there is a big difference between falling over and sliding for approx 20mtrs along the tarmac.
