Tank Painting.

Gotten sick of looking at those once "character revealing" deep scratches through the Yammy emblem on the side of the tank.
Not sure what type of plastic 2010 Tenere petrol tanks are made out of but are they paintable?
Im talking profesionaly not a house paint and roller job.
Thanks.

Just about any plastic is paintable; only with plastics the preparation (including selecting exactly the right primer to correspond with the type of plastic) is much more critical.

All plastics these days (due to environmental/recycling legislation) have to have somewhere on them what type they are. I've never looked that closely under my tank when I've had it off, but there should be a date stamp and the code for the plastic used.

Have you considered

Abrasive grit blasting instead. A light sanding to remove the scratches and then take the gloss off the lot. It will give it the whole battle ready look.

Well, clearly they are paintable, because they are painted by Yamaha . As for what paint you might need to use, no idea.

Might be worth asking JMo, as she's the only person I can think off who's had a tank resprayed.

I want to get my Ten sprayed at some point.

I want it proper Yamaha blue...not the blue they released the Ten in but the blue you get WR's and YZ's in (its darker than the Tenere blue)

I love that blue with white decals

Yes dark mat grey would look rather nice instead of gloss black.
Being mat l could do it myself with a spray can, just the clear coat over top would need care.
The only thing stopping me right now is the cost of decals.
