Odometer Frozen

My Tenere's odometer froze at 124,300 miles (198,880 km's) today but the Speedo, Trip meters and Fuel gauge still work perfectly ok.
Anybody else passed this mileage yet?

Seems odd that a dry/broken solder joint (due to excessive vibration!!) should cause such a specific fault and not effect the Trips/Speedo.

Electronic time bomb???

Big mileage, I would try disconnecting the battery for a few min to see if that fixes it.

No exciting tales of journeys to far off exotic sounding places I'm afraid. Mind you.....there was that time I went to Leeds.

99.9% of mileage is all down to courier use. The engine was completely trouble free to 60,000 miles until the right hand main bearing wore out. Much to my surprise (and delight) my dealer repaired under warranty! (this is documented elsewhere).
I had the same problem at about 90,000 miles but at my own expense as the bike was now out of warranty. I managed to get away with just changing the bearing and not the crankshaft as well like my dealer had done.
An anomaly of a loose primary drive nut seemed to occur with a worn r/h main bearing (due to axial play) and when bad vibes returned several miles later I realised that just retightening the nut would remove the slackness in the bearing. Although the engine is very loose and vibey now there is not the significant knocking that comes with a worn main bearing. Probably mostly piston slap as it is still on its original bore.

Still on original front discs and clutch - only changed the original clutch cable about a month ago as a precaution for a trip to Leeds as it was fraying a bit.

NICE BIKE!!

Just about!

Well I disconnected the battery last night but the odometer is still frozen.
I guess I should wait to hear when someone else reaches that mileage before making accusations of "electronic time bomb"??

That's a fairly round mileage, sounds to me (just a theory) that the odometer has reached the limit of it's scope.

Try writing to Yamaha UK, see if you get anywhere, the sheer number of miles on the bike might raise some interest with them. Maybe thee is an upper limit to the ability of the odometer.

Yeah, I was thinking about doing that Darren. Hopefully the guy I was in contact with over the main bearing/corrosion issue might take some interest......
